When free items are given out, you can only get them one at a time. There's a little bug that's just part of FireRed in general. I went to the Department Store to get free Big Mushrooms, I want to see what I get from the move tutor as Salamence's current moveset needs work. Natures and IVs are still variables, so I had to use a Lua script to make sure I get a good set of IVs. Oh right, before entering the Catching Area, the guy that introduces you to the place gives you all the TMs. I went to the Dragon one first, and there's a sign that lists the Pokemon listed: Dragonite, Altaria, Salamence, Latias, Latios. There are multiple doors, separated by type. Oak is outside of it, but he's rude and tells you to scram as he's being filmed. There's the catching, the Department Store, the move tutor house, and the titular pit. It has a Smoke Ball, so it's pretty much a catcher. Your mom's not there, the gym assistant NPC appears at the house door and gives you the Smeargle. It was misspelled as "Smeragle" at first, with a question mark icon, but it reverts to normal. Your PC has 50 Master Balls! Your starter is a Smeargle. Oak appears and mentions the 100 trial challenge, and that I was spotted. The introductory text before Oak first appears gives a rundown of the game. All that out the way, I'm so ready for this. I will still make my own list and not rely on his. I forgot that Manekimoney listed all the trainers and their Pokemon in the Pokecommunity post, but under behind spoiler tags. I'll make note of the trainers on a separate, personal document, and just give relatively broad strokes in my commentary here. With my commentary, I'm going to try and not spoil the teams that the trainers use. No save states in the middle of battles, maybe I'll save-scum battles, I'll try not to and treat it like a Battle Frontier challenge or a full Mt. That can only help in making the retries more tolerable, and also make it so that I don't have to memorize so intensely. I bet I'll get a game over a couple of times, that's why it's important to take note of every trainer. It can only help in getting through this in the cleanest run possible. With that said, I'll need to make note of every single trainer. Scyther, Onix, Pikachu, and Clamperl are obtainable, the rest of the selection is fully evolved Pokemon. Little changes, Return has a set Base Power of 102, Pickup's gone, Pay Day gives no money. The Double battle version gives you more money since it's supposed to be a bit harder. There's an easter egg, timely since it's close to Easter at the time it came out. There's apparently a different, albeit stripped-down story. Other features include a move tutor that can teach almost any non-TM move, items that you can buy for the pit with limited money. I'll play the Normal version first and then the Double ones. There are 2 versions, a Normal and Double battles version. From Bug Catchers to Youngsters, to Brock, Rocket Grunts, you get the idea. All Pokemon are level 100, and the roster of trainers changes as you progress. The labor of grinding is removed as you can get any Pokemon you want within the Gen 1-3 pool, EV training is almost instantaneous with free vitamins (4 of each max out a stat). I remember the prize for XD was a Johto starter given to you at random, and they each have Ancientpower. With that though, you can take breaks, and every ten battles, you get Poke Coupons. Battle challenge, where you battle 100 trainers. A Pokemon comparison could be the Colosseum/XD Mt. I never played it, but there's a challenge area called "The pit of 100 trials." Here, you have to battle 100 different trainers, with progressing difficulty, and a superbosss and a reward at the end. This hack is apparently inspired by Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. On the former, you have hacks like Swore & Shilled, and with the latter, there's Fire Red 20XX, and now this one. There seem to be 2 kinds of hacks from him, the ones with bad/weird sprites and dumb dialogue, or the ones that present a unique challenge. Manekimoney delivers another quirky and unique hack.
